Hooray for HOLLYWOOD… (click here to read the entire story)
…& PINK’S Hot Dog Stand on La Brea-
OH! and that lady on the far right, at the end… NOT the end of the line. That’s where they stop so the drive way stays clear and then there’s more line….it goes past the antique store and then down the side street and then it keeps going. You don’t even know. There is SOMETHING about a hot dog from PINK’S. I have no idea what it is or even why- but I too, have been one of those folks who have waited in line for over an hour for one of their hot dogs. Yup, OVER an hour…ain’t it sick?
Now, I know what you’re thinking. And everytime I tell my friends about this place and let them know how long I’ve waited, the reply is always the same: “FOR A HOT DOG?!?!“. So, of course they all wanna go and see what the hub bub is all about- and nobody has ever been disappointed. In fact, they always wanna know when we are heading back down to Hollywood. I love this place…along with the “Loveless Cafe” in Nashville, TN- it’s one of my favorite places in the world to eat.
And I’m not the only one that loves PINK’S! Once you’ve ordered, you step inside to the register and you’ll see every square inch of every wall covered with autographed 8×10’s of everyone who’s anyone that has ever eaten there. After a concert or a LAKER‘S game- expect to be in line for two hours. Oh- and yes, they will wait. They do however, have ONE single parking spot in front of the stand (usually VIP or someone who thinks they are just because they drive a Ferrari) famous or not…it still has a parking meter because this is after all- still L.A. I’ve heard stories of a Limo pulling up and the driver rushing in, picking up the to go order and passing it through the back window as people in line “ooh and aah” as they wonder who’s in there.
Speaking of Celebs, some have gone to PINK’S and made up there own fabulous combination of condiments for their wiener. Once in a while, if it’s really good- they’ll even add it to the menu. My favorite Celeb dog is the “Martha Stuart“-
10″ Stretch Dog with relish, onions, bacon, chopped tomatoes, kraut & sour cream. Don’t it just wanna make you drive to L.A.? Just so ya know- Rosie O’Donnell and Ozzy both have dogs named after them too. Here is the next one I’m gonna try when I’m down there again-
It’s called the Mullholland Drive Dog– 10″ Stretch dog with grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, nacho cheese & bacon. Is your mouth watering? Maybe its just a California thing, but there aren’t too many things I wouldn’t do for a hot dog from PINK’S . They’ve also got burgers on the menu and the fries and onion rings will make you wanna smack someone. (that’s a good thing) Oh…and lets not forget the “Bubble Up“, “Big Peach” and “Dr. Browns Cream Soda“! And you’ve GOTTA have the Coconut Cake!!
I can’t stand it, I need to get back down there.
